Matt Matthews has been involved in each session of the Texas Legislature since 1988. Matthews served as Chief of Staff to State Senator Florence Shapiro (R-Plano) as well as State Representative Kenny Marchant (R- Coppell). He has also served as General Counsel to the powerful Senate State Affairs Committee and Chief Clerk for the House Committee on Financial Institutions.

Due to his long tenure in Austin, Mr. Matthews has close and long standing relationships with key leaders of the House and Senate in addition to his close ties to many statewide officeholders including the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Speaker and Attorney General of Texas.

In addition to his legislative experience, Matthews has served as Associate General Counsel to the Texas Credit Union League where he oversaw the governmental affairs operations of the 700+ member trade association.

Currently, Matt is the principal of Matt Matthews and Company – a governmental affairs/public law practice with clients in industries such as health care, education, financial services, insurance, housing, real estate, handicapped persons and advertising.

Mr. Matthews is an active member of the legal community. He is currently a member of the Texas State Bar Association, American Bar Association and was recently admitted to the United States Supreme Court Bar.

As a native Texan, Mr. Matthews received his Bachelors Degree from Oklahoma State University and a Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan University.

Stephanie Hale has deep roots Texas governmental affairs, marketing and public relations. From her work with political consultant Karl Rove and her position on the Bush for Governor Transition team, to her work with various political races and leadership position in then-Governor Bush’s Legislative Office, Ms. Hale has a broad base of expertise in the Texas political landscape.

In addition to her political accomplishments, Ms Hale has a strong background in marketing and public relations. As the national recruiting director for a large Austin-based software company, she eventually became a founding member and vice president of marketing and public relations for a popular high tech start-up company in Austin. Ms. Hales’ work in the competitive field of high tech marketing and public relations gives her a unique understanding of the relationship between businesses and governmental entities.

Before joining Matt Matthews and Co., Stephanie left her position as Marketing Director of the international law firm Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison, a high tech law firm with offices in Austin, Dallas, New York, San Francisco, Washington DC and London. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at Austin and manages client accounts involving education, technology, health care and financial services.
